Three ways to … Attract pollinating insects

1 Keep grass longer than usual, allow some weeds to grow and cultivate a range of plants which will flower over a long period to provide bees with pollen and nectar.
2 Create favourable flying conditions in your garden by planting deciduous and mixed native hedging to provide shelter from the wind.
3 Make a winter refuge for bees by drilling holes in pieces of wood, where they will often nest if a source of blossom is near by.
